Financial Manager

Role Overview

Location: On-site in Budapest, HU

We’re looking for a highly organized and execution-driven Financial Manager to build and own Allonic’s financial operations end-to-end. This role focuses on hands-on financial management and controlling: you will establish robust financial processes, manage day-to-day operations, with the opportunity to grow into strategic roles alongside a fast-moving robotics company.

You will oversee all financial workflows — from invoices, payroll, budgeting, reporting, and subscriptions, to coordination with accountants, auditors, and external partners. You’ll design and maintain systems that ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial information while supporting our rapid growth and operational complexity. You will also collaborate closely with our Lab Lead and Office Manager to ensure operational discipline and smooth logistics across teams. On the strategic side, you’ll contribute to budget planning, forecasting and long-term financial strategy.

If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy building structure from the ground up, and want to play a foundational role in scaling a hardware/robotics startup — this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Own cash flow forecasting and runway tracking, with weekly updates to leadership
  • Build and maintain structured, digital financial systems, and enforce cost control processes (approvals, budgets, vendor management)
  • Manage all accounting operations: invoicing, payroll, AP/AR, compliance
  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, banks, and auditors
  • Support grant applications and reporting (EU funding, Hungarian incentives)
  • Prepare investor/board materials and support fundraising due diligence
  • Support operational logistics in collaboration with the Lab Lead and Office Manager.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial management roles, preferably within tech or startups.
  • Experience preparing financial models, forecasts, and strategic analyses for leadership.
  • Strong understanding of financial operations: bookkeeping, payroll, budgeting, cost control, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and comfort building systems and processes from scratch.
  • Ability to manage hands-on day-to-day financial tasks, but also to zoom out and see the big picture.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards, compliance, and working with external financial partners.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate financial insights into actionable recommendations.

Bonus Points

  • Prior experience in hardware or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience handling multi-entity or international financial operations.
  • Understanding of R&D-heavy budgeting, CapEx planning, and cost-of-goods modeling.
  • Exposure to fundraising processes, investor reporting, or grant financing.
  • Background in controlling or operational finance.

Personal Attributes

  • Highly reliable, structured, and detail-oriented — nothing slips through the cracks.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; thrives in fast-moving startups.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent communicator who distills complexity into clarity.
  • Collaborative, supportive, and trusted by cross-functional teams.

Why Join?

  • World-changing technology — work alongside a world-class team, and take part in fundamentally changing how robotics are built
  • Competitive salary — we value talent and offer fair compensation for your expertise
  • High impact — build the financial backbone of a cutting-edge hardtech startup
  • Flexible work hours — hybrid work setup possible
  • Community — a supportive and design-driven culture where sharing ideas, communication and hands-on collaboration are part of the day-to-day, and failure is considered a learning opportunity
